Hi, I downloaded this email client, where I download via IMAP emails from my internet account. My problem is, that I need to release a space on my email internet account, that ́s why I wanted to move all to my PC - to local folders. Unfortunately I cannot find them.
I tried to work also in “offline” version, but it didn ́t help. Whatever I will do in eMClient, is exactly copied to my internet email account.
What I simply need, is to download everything from internet email account, in order to release space there, and to work with my emails only in eMClient, having them in local folders and archived. Can somebody help me, how to achieve this? Many thanks.
First I am a user.
To show local folders Menu , Tools , General On right about 6 items down you will find Show Local Folders
That sets it on.
What I do to save space on Vendor site (Gmail) is as follows
Using imap I allow emclient to sync everything.
Then I archive email that are over 180 days old Menu , Tools, Settings, Mail Archive
I set archiving to 180 days a little further down Account Preferences
Select acct name and you will get a pulldown menu select All Folders do not forget to do this else nothing happens.
Once done you can force an archive to run and it will create a Database called archive under your normal synced folders. BUT this is in an internal database format that you can use offline.
This could take a while to create.
Now the archived email should be removed from internet vendor however gmail seems not to follow the rules. So after I verify that my stuff is in the archive folders I then go to gmail and remove those emails from the gmail server manually.
Now if your intention is to have your old emails in a format that can be read without emclient or load into something else you will need to export the archive folder to your pc hard disc and then you get individual files of each email . You can also export your regular folders too not only the archived ones.
I do not use the local folder concept did not find it did what I wanted but you can test out the way i do it or try the local folder technique.
Either way you test DO NOT FORGET TO RUN THE BACKUP Menu Files Backup so if it does not do what you expected you can use the emclient restore. Note on restore if you are using a unique theme that you created or downloaded the restore will restore that . You need to export that theme yourself and later import back into the theme menu.
Hopes this helps
Note on restore if you are using a unique theme that you created or downloaded the restore will NOT restore that . You need to export that theme yourself and later import back into the theme menu.
Just did an archive and it looks like gmail did remove them from its online server. They must have fixed that
