Database Error message and shutdown problem.

Suddenly i got an error problem.

I receive my mail, can go to calendar, and contacts. but after a minute or so i get a error message, and the program shuts off. I have tryed to reinstall, and after getting the old backuped files in the right place i thought it was ok.
The only thing i can understand of the long error message is this first lines. That says there is somthing wrong with a database.

If so, where is the “Database” stored?
And is it a way to fix it?

Here is link to the full error message

I don’t know what your operating environment looks like.  Not enough information.

BUT, if you read the prior hyperlink, it’ll tell you everything you need to know about “where” your data is… (a “Roaming” folder under your user profile folder.   It’s in different places between XP and Vista thru 8.)

My immediate advice is this:
1)  If you have “important” data in your DB, it’s probably gone.
2)  Backup if you can.
3)  Create a new folder on your hard disk (C?) --> call it, “email” or something.
4)  If more than one person uses your computer, create a folder for yourself at C:\email<youruserloginid>
5) Uninstall EMClient
6) Reinstall EMClient.
7) Skip account setup. [Get to the main screen]
8) Go to Tools->Settings->General->Storage.
9) See Database Storage? That’s where it currently is. Wherever that happens to be (see hyperlink above).
10) Change your Storage Folder to C:\email<yourusername>.

Then, setup your accounts again.

Best of luck to you.

Thank u for reply. I have read meny if not all of your posts, and i must admit that i dont understand much of it. It is over my knowledge in data.
I had eM client on 2 laptops, and it has worked just fine.
i have one old mail that was in the draft folder from 3, okt, with 4 attachments, and one in the inbox from 2. okt that i cant delete. All new mails i delete with no problem. I can take backup as well.

YESSSSSSS I TOOK A RESTORE, AND CHOOSE A FILE FROM 1 OKT…
NOW EVERYTHING SEEMS FINE… THANK YOU…GI JOE

Hi Espen, glad the above solution helped you in resolving the issue. Sorry I wasn’t able to respond earlier, please make sure to let us know if you come across this, a similar issues or any questions regarding the application, we’ll be happy to help.

Thank you,
Paul.

Yes i was very frustated. and as i told MR GI Joe, my data skills are not up too your level. But i thought it maybe smart to backup before the problem started… And this time i was lucky…

And just one q is it only 2 XML files in eM directory?
Manifest and Settings? and are they the same thing with different name??

Hi Espen, yes eM Client only uses two XML files, but the Manifest XML only appears in some cases, not for all users.
Settings.xml contains information about your accounts and may be exported for setting up your accounts on your other eM Client installations (possibly a laptop or any other computer).

Hope this helps,
Paul.

Thank you. eM Client installed on laptop nr 2, All data from laptop 1 synced with no problem,

Great, glad I could help. Just as I mentioned previously, don’t hesitate to let us know if you come across any other questions or issues, we’ll be happy to help.

Thank you,
Paul.
