eMClient on Windows 7

Hi,
I noticed, opening Revo uninstaller programm that eMClient appears twice ! Do you think I have to uninstall one (the oldest)? I don’t want to loose my data base and configuration. It works perfect. I don’t understand whats going on.

Hi France, I’m not completely sure why would eM Client appear twice on the list of installed applications.
My best suggestion here would be checking if you only have one eM Client folder in your windows installation folder, and if you ever want to uninstall the application, use the system uninstaller,
from my experience these applications can cause trouble while trying to reinstall the application (deletes registry keys, that don’t have to be deleted etc.).

You can also try to check if both of the shown versions have the same version number.

Hope this helps,
Paul.

Hi Paul,
activ eMClient version I use is 6.0.21042.0. The other installation in yellow with no icon is 6.0.20617.0.
look at the image of Windows’ control Panel > Uninstall a program

In C:\Program Files (x86)\eM Client > MailClient.exe is the last version 6.0.21042.0.
In C:\Users\xxx\AppData\Roaming there is only one folder, with the data base.

My terrible question is:
do I click on uninstall 6.0.20617.0

or do I have to go in Registry Editor to delete something?

Hi again France, if I were you I wouldn’t worry about this. However you should be able to remove the rest of the 20617 installation by using the system uninstaller.
But if you want to uninstall the second version, make sure you have a backup of your data if possibly your current installation was removed on accident.

Thank you,
Paul.

Ok. Thank you Paul

If you decide to try to uninstall the previous version and encounter any issues while doing so, please let us know, we’ll be happy to help.

Thank you,
Paul.

You are looking for worries

It’s not possible to uninstall old version because setup.msi is missing. Same message as a few days ago : https://forum.emclient.com/emclient/topics/the-older-version-of-emclient-cannot-be-removed

So, I think I have two solutions:

  1. I don’t care and keep everything,
  2. I uninstall and clean all eMClient installations and files and install a new clean version.

Hi again, what version of eM Client do you have currently installed, is it 21042? If so, can you please download this installer http://www.emclient.com/dist/v6.0.21042/setup.msi
and run the installer on your computer, you should be allowed to use the “repair” instead of uninstalling or installing the application again.

If that doesn’t help, backup your data and let me know.

Thank you,
Paul.

Hello Paul,
I’m sorry to bore you with this stupid problem, which does not seem to be a real problem. Yes, I have version 21042. I “repaired”, but it had nothing to repair. I had the message: “The account already exist”.

Hi again, if you’d like to try to get rid off this issue, please go to your local folder > App Data > Roaming, and rename your eM client folder (while the application is turned off).
Uninstall eM Client on your computer and download this installer - http://www.emclient.com/dist/v6.0.20617/setup.msi , install this version and update to the latest available version using software update.

After you install your updates, go back to the Roaming folder and rename the original eM Client folder back to “eM Client”, that way you’ll be able to see all your data just as you did prior to your uninstallation.

Hope this helps,
Paul.

Hi Paul,
what do you mean by update to the latest available version using software update. Is it the use of “Help > check for update”?

Hi again, yes exactly, or just download this latest release right after you perform the previous steps and update from this installer: http://www.emclient.com/dist/v6.0.21151/setup.msi .

Best regards,
Paul.

Hello
anything seems perfect! I have only one eMClient - Version is 6.0.21151.0.
Licence is ok. My theme is here, all my mails are here.
Thank you very very much.

For people who had to do so: be careful about sounds - if you added your notifications - because they are in Program Files.

Hi again, glad I could help, please let us know if you come across any other issues or questions, we’ll be happy to help.

Thank you,
Paul.

I’m glad also. Of course I’ll come for any new problem
