eM Client crash when new mail window is opened

Whenever I open new mail window eM Client crashes with error attached to this post below (I don’t want to paste 4000 lines error file here to make it readable). It doesn’t matter if I click “New mail” button or reply to existing mail - it crashes immediately when new mail window is about to appear. Other functionalities work fine - I can open and edit calendar, contacts, etc. It’s just that I can’t open new mail window.

I am aware that the problem probably is somewhere in my computer because I have it configured on my laptop and it works great. The thing is that I have ran out of ideas what to do. I don’t really know how to understand the error message - for me it seems that problem is somehow related to NET Framework but I don’t know what to do with it. Things I have done so far:

  1. I’ve reinstalled them NET Framework 4.0
  2. Run Microsoft’s NET Framework fixing tool
  3. Reinstalled eM Client dozens of times including ‘hard reinstall’ - remove all files and leftovers I was able to find
  4. Check registry entries - nothing that would look wrong to me.
  5. Check my SSD for errors with HD Tune
  6. I’ve tried running eM Client as administrator to check if it may be caused by problem with permissions.

OS is Windows 10 Pro 64 bit updated to 1909 with all updates installed in the moment of writing the post. It’s activated on Enterprise key if that could matter, but Windows has no problem with it.

If any additional info is needed to help me solve the problem I will provide it.

Is that 1909 on both machines? Or is the one that is working still on the previous release?

What you can try is with eM Client closed, rename the C:\Users\yourusername\AppData\Roaming\eM Client folder to something else. You may have to enable hidden items in Explorer to get there.

Then restart eM Client with a blank database, and just cancel any setup screen. Try opening a new email window and see what happens.

It’s probably 1903 on the one it works fine. I am now afraid to run the update…

I’ll try it and give you feedback later but isn’t it the same as full reinstall?

I think Microsoft are still trying to put out the fires caused by all the issues with 1909. Could just be that.

A reinstall or uninstall of eM Client does not delete the database, unless you specifically choose that option during the uninstall. If you have already tried with a blank database after uninstall, then there is no need to try the option of renaming the database folder etc.

I’ve done uninstall with deleting the database. I’ll try to rollback the 1909 update then to check it…

Update: I couldn’t rollback the 1909 update on PC so I’ve risked updating notebook from 1903 to 1909 and eM Client works there fine.

So to sum it up: I have notebook with Windows 10 Pro 1909 where eM Client has no problems and PC with Windows 10 Pro 1909 where eM Client crashes when I open new mail OR click on link in mail redirecting me to web browser as I’ve found today (example: link to this post from eM Client forum).

If these two eM Client installations are connected to the same accounts, backup eM Client on the laptop where it works, then copy the backup zip file to the desktop and restore it. See what happens.

I’ve copied whole eM Client folder from the laptop to desktop on my PC and error still occurs. Actually I did expect it since the problem seems to be related to my OS configuration… But I have no idea what might be wrong with it. :frowning:
