Cathegory syncing

How does a cathegory gets synchronised on a google account. What I want to know is this : what do I have to take into account to make a cathegory on eMclient on Computer A look the same on emClient on Computer B.

  • is it the order of appearance in the cathegory list
  • is it the exact description of the cathegory

I would like to make my onw cathegories and have them the same on 2 emClients.
It seems to me cathegories are not visible when I look into my google account.

Regards and many thanks,
Marcus

Hello,

do you really mean categories? Or do you speak about labels/subfolders?

I mean categories, the one’s you use to give agenda items a different colour; very convenient thing, by the way !

Hello,

then this is not possible because Google does not provide necessary APIs for this function.

Well, I don’t think we are talking about the same thing :). Suppose I create an appointment in a google agenda using emClient and I’m giving it a category ‘make phone call’. If I connect to the same agenda with an emclient on a second computer, I see the category is there.
What I want to know is the following : how is the category linked to the google calendar ? If I change the category on one emClient to ‘make a call’, will it stil show up on the same appointment ? Or is the category not recognised any more, once the description doesn’t mach between computers ?
I hope I’m clear in what I want to know now …

for that second part if you mark one event then it is only for that event, when you change it’s name it will be still the same even after re-synchronization,

that first part, even our developers says that this is not planned as there is no possible way how to do this in this time.

Jan

I agree with Marcus. I’d like also to find the same categories on both computers.
Unfortunately John Calis said it is not planned :frowning:

Hello,

as I have written before this is not because we don’t want do this feature (this is one of the few that has sense and meaning) but it is not possible as available Google’s APIs does not provide support for this.

Jan

Hi, Yes I understood it’s not possible.
I just wrote “unfortunately”, “not planned”.
I appreciate very much eMClient and the quick nice assistance.

I consider that as polite to respond even with bad news

Jan

I had many good news these last days about eMClient which works perfectly now

then I happy to read this that you are satisfied user
