Is there any chance we could pressure the eM Client software developers to do something about the “self-resetting” tags?
I’m referring to a situation that started about two months ago.
Tags have been randomly “disappearing” after some time. Tagged emails end up in the inbox. As a result, some messages get overlooked — and the consequences depend on how important the missed messages were.
Previously, for around four years, there had never been an issue with tags vanishing. Now I’ve basically stopped tagging emails because it makes no sense anymore. It happens regardless of whether I shut everything down properly, including Windows, or just log out.
Description of the situation:
Emails are tagged. You turn the laptop off and on again — it works. Sometimes the tags persist for 2–5 days even after restarting or shutting down the laptop.
Then randomly — I don’t know the exact time intervals — the tags vanish and you’re left with untagged emails, like in the example below. My only workaround is using flags and my personal habit of double-marking important messages.
Sometimes everything is already messed up by the next day. Sometimes it’s fine for a week — I can close the laptop lid, log out, or leave it to shut off on its own, and the tags remain. And sometimes they disappear like the software is acting up on a whim.
It should not be possible to the tags to disappear on their own, can you please provide more details on which account this happens with?
Who is the mail provider and is the account set up as POP, IMAP or Exchange?
The email server provider is home.pl. This is the account of one of my employees. After some time, the email tags disappear. The account is configured in eM Client using IMAP. We’ve never had this issue before.
Hi!
I’m in the test period and, sorry to say, have exactly the same issue. I tag some emails and after some time they are gone from the tagged folder, however the tag is still on the email! If I remove it and retag again, the mail is in the tagged folder again. That’s really annoying and disturbing my work.
That is an IMAP account, seohost.pl is the server.
Have you found any solution yet?
Unfortunately, we haven’t received the necessary information from the previous user to solve this issue. Could you please send us your IMAP logs so that we can look into it further?
Here are the instructions:
To enable IMAP logs, go to Menu > Settings > in section “Advanced” go to Logging > scroll and find the affected account and check the box for IMAP > click on Save & Close
Restart eM Client
Assign a tag to a message, mark down the tag name and the message UID (right-click in the message > Properties)
Restart eM Client
Go back to Menu > Settings > Advanced > Logging > click on Send Logs… (this will open a new message window with the logs attached and a filled out address) - please sent the logs together with the other information to [email protected]
Hi,
I can confirm I’m experiencing exactly the same issue.
We are using eM Client in a shared IMAP setup (one mailbox used by multiple users on different computers). Tags used to sync correctly across all devices, but recently they stopped syncing — now each user only sees their own local tags.
We also host our email on home.pl, so it might be related to the server configuration or something that changed on their side.
Nothing was intentionally changed in our setup, the issue just appeared.
Would be great to know if anyone using home.pl (or similar IMAP providers) has found a fix.
