We are working on support for Google tasks and contacts and improved support for Google calendar, what do you think?

Hello Google Calendar & Contacts synchronization is supported in eM Client 3. You simply set up your account using automatic detection and mail + calendar + contacts synchronization is set up automatically.
-
-
-
Once that happens and you get an archive button that works like gmails does then eM client will become my one and only desktop email client.

That would make emclient a lot better than any mail client I've seen for gmail.

Great news! Make sure you support shared calendars!
Ah and drop this useless Properties window you have for calendars right now, it's not only confusing but half of it does not even work at all (ie Access Control)! BTW Folders/Default folder setting for Calendars is completely meaningless (under Accounts), get rid of it. -
-
Fantastic! That's the one thing that prevents me from moving forward with purchase.
-
-
-
-
That would be great - but what about supporting importing contacts from Skype as well? since you guys have SKype supported that should be enabled as well...
-
-
if its 'google apps' contact/calerdar/task sync , that will be great and valuable!

We plan this to version 2.7, however we found out recently that google tasks (todo lists) are not accessible with Google API, so we can't access them. But we can fully sync Google contacts and we work on that functionality.

Thanks for quick reply.

I don't know how it works, but I have an Android phone now and there is an application available in the Market that syncs Gmail Tasks. It's called GTasks and it's made by Dato (datoandroid@gmail.com). Maybe that developer can help...

EM Client's calendar feature was the tipping point in my decision to try it. If the CalDAV issues are worked out (particularly for Google's Calendar service), it's probably what will keep EM Client installed on my system. For me, strong calendaring features are higher priority than task or contact sync. An export contact/tasks to CSV feature would be satisfactory.
Update:
At least basic CalDAV functionality is working, even with shared secondary calendars. When testing Google calendar to EM Client sync, I kept forgetting to specify the secondary calendar when creating appointments, and thought the problem might be with EM Client.
Great work, all! Looks like I found a new favorite PIM. -
-
Thats what I'm waiting for: full synchronisation between GMail and eM Client:
-mail
-calendar
-tasks
-contacts -
-
Hi,
we work on contacts and currently rewriting Google calendar support for Google API (because their CalDAV implementation is terrible). Tasks integration is not possible at the moment, because Google hasn't published any API to their tasks, so currently there is no way how to achieve this. See http://code.google.com/p/gdata-issues... -
-
Google contact support is what I'm waiting for - any ETA or is there a beta available?
-
-
V2.6.7 only does Google contact import, no synch. This is not what is says on the tin, which says "We synch with everyone."
Import ain't synch. -
-
I have 4 kids in different sports and have google calendars for each as well as work. Have not had success in sync. with google calendars. This is the one of the most important features for me.

I'm trying emClient as a possible solution to replace Outlook for my business. However, I have several calendars in Google Apps that I need to sync with emClient and can not get them to sync. When is the fix coming out?
-
-
-
-
I need that syncing with tasks, calendar. Also what about syncing with localendar? I keep a major calendar there and would love to pull it up with EM Client
-
-
When will contact sync be available? I use Gmail contacts as my contacts "hub" and all clients sync to it (mobile, desktop (Zimbra), etc.)... This is a must!
-
-
Can not sync Gmail contacts. I can import them but not sync them like Evolution does. Also, when they are imported it seems to truncate them to a certain character length. Please get this feature working. Otherwise I have had not problems with it. Outlook keeps crashing on Windows 7 x64 so I am looking for a replacement. Get the google contacts sync feature working and I will gladly pay the fee.

would like to see google contact sync then might use it. thank you!

Downloaded em client last week as a loyal outlook user. (my compliments)
Have android, outlook 2007 and google aps. Looking for outlook & google sync or new desktop mail client compatible with google.
em client could be an outlook killer imo. So I'm quite disappointe that ver 2.7 lach contact sync as suggested earlier. -
-
-
-
i get the impression that sync'ing gmail contacts properly is not high on their agenda. it is the only real aspect which is holding this app back. perhaps they realise if they sort the syncing out, ppl would start taking the app seriously.....
-
-
It is scheduled for next big release. We didn't make it to 2.7 because of many other scheduled tasks. Google sync IS high on our agenda, but there are quite a lot requested features and improvements from our customers that needed to be targeted as well.

when is next 'big releas' pls, i am waiting for emclient able to sync my google apps contacts + calendars + tasks, its exciting.

Hi,
it will be available with the release of 2.8 version in the middle of December.

Yes! Now using Zimbra, but not fully pleased with it. Hopefully eMClient 2.8 will!

The release date has changed to sometimes in January 2011.

Version 3.0.9422.0 does not support two way synchronisation with Google calendar. I have many Google Apps accounts, but two accounts and the their associated calendars synchronise one way Server>Client.
Any suggestion or help. -
-
I would also very much appreciate an update on this issue of Google Calendar sync. It has been several months since we were told this functionality would be available.
Can someone PLEASE clarify if this finally works in v 3.0?-
Hi, It does not work with version 3.0.9543.0. One way only from Google.
-
-
HNH Consultancy: Please note that your issue is specific, not a general problem of Google + eM Client synchronization.
-
-
-
-
-
That's disappointing to hear, given their earlier assurances that it would be part of v 2.7 and 2.8, and now we're at 3.0 and still not there. Still, can you point me in the right direction as to the instructions for how to set up one way sync from Google? I can't find any information on that.

I just loaded version 3.5.13654. How does one "simply" set up the account using automatic detection and mail + calendar + contacts ????? I imported my Outlook data, Hoping to uninstall outlook. But am seeing no syncing with google. It down loaded all the emails in my google account but upon deleting many in eM they remain in my google account?? Help!

Thanks for your response. Could you clarify, though, what you mean? Which account do you set up - eM Client or Google - and how do you set it up for auto detection? Is it one way sync or two way? A one time sync or ongoing?
Thank you for your help.-
Hello, let's say your Gmail address is 'example@gmail.com'. You just go to Tools->Accounts->New Account-> enter 'example@gmail.com' -> click Next and it detects that this is a Google Account and guides you through the rest. It is a continual two way synchronization.
-
-
no, it does not. at least not in my caae. It does sync contacts, settings, etc. not google calendar.
-
-
-
-
-
-
-
I have already followed the instructions provided and my calendars are still not synchronizing. Some of the appointments from google come to eM Client, some do not. If I add something in eM Client, it does NOT get added to my google calendar.
-
-
Me too! I have the contacts and settings, etc. synced, but it does not see, or sync with my google calendar at all, at all.
-
-
Hello,
we would appreciate if you send us CalDAV logs: go to menu Tools->Settings->Logging and check CalDAV. Then restart eM Client, try to simulate the issue and send us the logs using the same logging settings window. -

Hi, Just compress the file using any compression tool.

Thanks - I already uploaded it to the ftp site. It only took 15 minutes - must be a lot of things going on in my computer :(

The instruction how to correctly set up your Gmail account with full synchronization are at http://www.emclient.com/em-client-wit... .

When syncing your gmail contact list, the EM client REMOVES all labels. So the 900+ contacts I had with labels on their phone numbers (like mom: 414-888-8888, julia: 414-888-8888... etc) now all just say "other". It changed EVERY entry in my gmail and I had to RESTORE my contacts to fix it and then UNINSTALL EM to keep it from doing it again. This is UNACCEPTABLE!! It should accept and leave alone the "labels" for our phone numbers!
-
We identified few places where this happened and fixed them for version 3.5. Moreover, we didn't experience the problem on our test accounts so far.

I can only sync the default Google calendar but none of the shared calendars, which is a shame. I'd love to be able to see and sync *all* my Google calendars. Haven't found anything about this in the help file.

1All the 'special' calendar under Google Calendar is a supplement, it not a secondary/multiple calendar. Thus, cannot sync by the CalDAV protocol. This is Google part, not eM Client. -
-
Maybe someone here can help me with the issue I am having. First off, I do have the sync options all enabled from this website: http://www.emclient.com/em-client-wit...
This solved the calendar issues that I was having, but I am still having contact issues. When I load a new contact through my Google Contacts in the web browser, it syncs automatically with eM Client. Great, that's how it's supposed to work. However, when I create a new contact in eM Client, it does not sync with my Google Contacts in the web, it just sits in eM. Maybe I have a setting wrong somewhere, but I was under the impression that this was supposed to happen automatically? Hopefully one of you is able to help me fix this issue. So far though I am very pleased with eM client overall. I just hope that I can get it functioning properly.
Thanks.- view 2 more comments

Yup you are using Mobile sync. It one of the many reason I won't ever get an Andorid phone - heavy integrations with Google cloud service, or WP7 - forced to use Live! and Zune service. Regarding to the "Other Contact", as far as I know - no. This is entire the way it implement by Google's part. If you are however using the Mail For Exchange protocol on Google Sync it will than go to "My Contact" and no way to change it either. And trust me, though you can do a restore, but you would not to want to mess with the 'system'.
Google Contact is at it beta phase, it sync function regardless by whichever methods, MfE or Android integration (though a bit better) has it problems. MfE problem can date all the way back since 08. EM Client also have it problem with Google Contact, particularly with it methods on localize with Google. So if you are using mobile sync, I don't recommend to make changes from eM side. Do it on-line or through your Android. Personally I would copy all the contact to local and disable the Contact service. But if you rely on regular change, avoid on using eM to do it. -

Thank you so much. Your reply was extremely helpful.

If NOT, please.... when will it happen?
This reply was created from a merged topic originally titled
Does EMClient SYNC with Google Contacts? Not Import, but Sync?.-
EM Client does support two-way sync with Google. But as explained above, has problems if you are using mobile sync with Google. But would work fine if you don't.

It would be great, eM will support different google calendars and synced every change made in eM with the google entries.

That ́s right, but for example, defined colors in google calendars won ́t be synced.
-

That a localization difference between eM and Google. Hopefully it would be address soon.

In my business google apps account, I have some aliases set up for different spellings of my name. For example JV@domain.com is the main account, but people try to email me at first.last@domain.com, or jlastname@domain.com. When they send calendar invites, google just adds them to my calendar, but when emclient downloads them, it says:
You are neither organizer or attendee of this scheduling item.
And doesn't allow me to accept or reject the meeting request. Is there a fix? I tired looking for aliases in emclient, but don't see anywhere.-
Alias setting can be find under the menu -> Tools -> Account -> 'your account' -> General. Next to E-mail under user information, you will see a button called "Aliases". You can add the aliases there.

Ok, Found the aliases. Set it up, did not change the behavior of emclient. Was invited to a new event this morning, and got the same message,"You are neither organizer or attendee of this scheduling item". I can't accept the invite. If I go to gmail via the web, it's on my calaendar and I can accept it. It's clearly an issue with emclient.

Hi,
same for me.
I also try to find out how to send the invitation with an alias.
That mean all calendar invitaions are sent with my xxx@googlemail.com but
i want to use one of my aliases to sent the invitation.
It was not quite good if my customers get invitations from my googlemail.com email.
Hopefully get this feature nearly fully working. -

Hello,
Google Contacts question; Is it possible to have the custom labels for phone numbers, emails and other items show in the Contact book?
We are currently on Thunderbird and Google Apps and we need better management of our contacts. We are running a number of personal and small business emails though the client but we need a better Contact solution. EmClient is looking pretty good.
Thank you for your help. -
-
Hello,
Another Google Contacts question; I see the Contacts navigation on the left is hiding "Google System Groups" which is great when they are empty. But not good when they are full.
Example, we are using the "Friends" system group and it is not showing in the navigation in the left hand side, but it is showing the contact has the Category "Friends" in the list and contact details.
Is there a way to adjust this behaviour to show "Google System Groups" if they have contacts associated?
Thank you. -
